North Cornwall in Winter

2nd - 4th March 2018

The cliffs and coastline of North Cornwall provide us with some of the most photogenic surroundings, join us for 3 days and 2 nights of photography in North Cornwall.  Our base is located right on the edge of the coast at Newquay, with each room enjoying a sea view, we are perfectly located for capturing stunning winter seascapes or intimate details along the coast.  With the hope of some winter waves and wonderful light we have the perfect spot to head out onto one of the many beaches or coastlines nearby and explore the area together.

And if the weather turns, what could be better than to capture rough waves and growling seas?  We love Cornwalls unpredictable weather it often creates beautiful images!  We are within easy drive of some of Cornwalls most spectacular locations, Wheal Coates, Bedruthan Steps, Trevose Lighthouse, The Rumps and St Nectans Glen are just a few.

To keep the cost of this workshop down we will be using our own vehicles and not hiring a minivan, both David and myself will be driving and happy to take clients and those already booked are happy to drive as well so there is no issue.

Additional Information:

Where & when do we meet?

We will be meeting on Friday 2nd march 2018 at The Great Western Hotel at 11am.

What camera kit do i need?

A camera with an array of focal lengths benefit us, a wide angle lens (16-35), medium zoom (24-70) and a longer (70-300) will all be ideal to cover a variety of possibilities. The most used will be the 24-70.

Tripod - A sturdy tripod is essential due to working in the elements.

Remote release

Filters and a polariser, although not essential as i have a supply from LEE FILTERS i can lend.

Waterproof cover to protect from rain.

Spare battery! & Charger.

What Clothing do i need?

Suitable wet weather gear, warm jacket, warm clothing, ideally layers. Hat, gloves..... maybe an umbrella!!?!

Footwear is the most important factor here -  good walking boots and possibly wellies!

What if the weather is really wild?

Both David and myself have plenty of experience of working in the weather on the coast, we are both very familiar with tides and will never put anyone or ourselves into any risk.  We will not be shooting in driving rain, but other conditions could be spectacular for photos!

Do i need to bring a computer?

Its not essential, it does help if the weather should turn against us, we can cover processing techniques together, this being said, you are welcome to watch anything i do.  Its great for reviewing images that day and checking you are getting sharp images and happy with the performance so it does help to bring it.  David is a very accomplished Adobe influencer with plenty of experience and any tutorials he does will be screen recorded to continue the learning process for everyone.

Any other questions please ask!
