A wonderful six day tour to photograph lavender, sunflowers, architecture and Provence life!
Join me summer 2019 for a wonderful relaxing photo tour of Provence and the Cote D'Azur, capturing the intimate countryside of a beautiful area of France with its colourful fields, endless lavender, hypnotic sunflowers and French towns and villages.
We will be exploring together many highlights of the region as well as the lavender and sunflowers, trips to Gordes, Bonnieux, Banon and many more. This tour is based in one prime location; the famous Valensole Plateau, where rolling farmland has grown lavender for centuries. Terracotta roofed buildings and barns hidden amongst the fields, Lone trees and endless rows of lavender make for a photographers paradise....

Is it hot in Provence?
Yes. The South East of France can get very hot, but we will always try to work in the best morning and evening light. We will stay out of intense heat by relaxing in the afternoon either at our hotel or a suitable cafe. Sunscreen is an essential item to be packed!
What clothing should i bring?
Comfortable loose clothing, like t-shirts, loose shirts with a collar and lighter coloured clothing, navy and black coloured clothing often makes you feel hotter. Shorts, three-quarter trousers, lightweight trousers for dawn and dusk shoots, especially if you are susceptible to being bitten full length trousers and long sleeves really helps on these occasions! A light fleece or sweater for the evenings, don't forget sun hat and sunglasses (ideally polarised).
Walking shoes are great, avoid heavy leather walking boots, these will make you feel uncomfortable in the heat. For the towns trainers will be ideal.
What camera kit?
An array of focal lengths benefit us, a wide angle lens (16-35), medium zoom (24-70) and a longer (70-300) will all be ideal to cover a variety of possibilities. The most used will be the 24-70. The bags will be near by the vehicles for lots of the trip so we don't expect you to carry it on your backs all day long! You might like to bring a smaller day bag and choose to take less kit with you by day for walking around the towns. Those into flowers might like a macro if you already have one, if shooting canon, the latest 24-70mm has an inbuilt macro and also the 100-400 telephoto is great for macro to.
Filters and a polariser if you use these.
Waterproof cover to protect from rain - Just in case!
Do i need to bring a computer?
Its not essential, it does help if the weather should turn against us, we can cover processing techniques together, this being said, you are welcome to watch anything i do. Its great for reviewing images that day and checking you are getting sharp images and happy with the performance so it does help to bring it but this tour is based on capturing the images rather than working on the computer.
Any other questions please ask!
